One of our basic tenets is to recycle as much as we can. Consequently we're committed to buying as few never-been-used materials from retail stores as possible. In the beginning we raided our own closets and fabric stash. When we ran out of pants, we turned to our relatives and friends. Now we carefully select our materials from thrift stores, auctions and yard sales, only choosing the best-quality items we can find. Often, we discover someone disposing of their own personal fabric stashes so a good portion of our materials have never been used. Those that have are thoroughly cleaned and sterilized before use in our one-of-a- kind bags, bears, quilts and other products.
